Acle Confirm Premier Division Status For Next Season

Acle United produced another inspired performance to come away from Kings Meadow with all three points.
The A's beat high flying Wymondham Town 3-0 to extend their recent run of good results. Manager Challen had to deal with the unavailability of 6 first team players, to say nothing of a gale force wind, but it was United who dealt with the conditions the better.
Acle faced the elements in the first half and a suggestion of what was to come was made when Smith was sent clear on goal but ruled marginally offside. A free kick soon followed just over the bar, before Enoch Kitopi promoted from the Reserves converted a goalmouth scramble to give United the lead.
Despite playing against the wind Acle kept the ball on the deck and it was no surprise to see a Daniel Foreman corner headed home by Tooley to put the A's two up. Kitopi was busy in midfield and taking every opportunity to get forward and almost got his second before running offside.
The same player then produced an audacious back heel in the Wymondham box that nearly led to a third. The home side were not able to overcome the conditions, and wasted a number of corners ballooned out of play for a series of goal kicks.
The teams turned around with United holding a 2-0 advantage and the wind at their backs. Early in the second half Foreman crashed his free kick goalwards and the impressive Bull-Anthony smashed in the rebound from the keeper, for his third goal since signing for the club.
Tooley then had a golden opportunity to grab his second as the hard-working Forder sent him away with just the keeper to beat but he couldn't quite pick his spot. Acle were creating plenty down the right, and another slick move saw the strong running Smith pass to Tooley who whipped the ball across the face of the goal but Coleto-Cano couldn't quite convert.
Wymondham had shown little in attack all afternoon, but Armes came closest for them when blasting over. The strong running Smith held off two players before shooting inches wide before another Foreman dead ball free kick was touched over the bar.
United can reflect on a top performance but even more may be needed next week as they travel to title contenders Long Stratton k.o. 2.30 pm.
