First Team Extend Unbeaten Run

Acle United extended their recent run of excellent results when returning to Bridewell Lane with a share of the points, after holding high flying Long Stratton to a 1-1 draw.
On a bumpy surface both teams thrilled a good size crowd in a high tempo game that Acle had the lion’s share of. Manager Challen named new signings Hogston and Thompson in his 14 and it was the ex-Ghosts midfielder who was looking to pull the strings on debut from the off.
Stratton could have gone ahead early on, but Foreman saved the day denying the home striker from 6 yards out.
The A's were taking the game to their opponents and were dominant in possession but it was the home side that went ahead against the run of play as United gave away a sloppy goal.
Kitopi was causing problems down the right wing for Acle and his cross found Tooley who gave the keeper no chance following his clinical finish for 1-1.
Forder was conducting the orchestra in midfield for the A's and almost gave United a well-deserved lead but the post denied him and then Brooks put his rebound inches wide.
As the half was coming to an end the Stratton number 9 shot wide on the break, and then Ryan Fisher reacted first to hook the ball back to deny a shot on goal.
After the break Forder shot just over the bar with just the keeper to beat, before Daniel Foreman saw his free kick helped out for a corner. Brooks was getting forward at every opportunity, as his cross was palmed away by the home keeper.
Tooley almost converted a Foreman free kick but Acle looked to have at last got their noses in front when a brilliant Carus headed crashed against the underside of the bar delivered on a postage stamp by that man Foreman once again.
Acle had laid siege to the home goal throughout the second half, but it did take a fantastic point blank save from Scott Foreman 10 minutes from time to maintain the status quo.
With both United strikers absent, this was a dominant performance by a side playing with plenty of confidence as Manager Challen is now able to shuffle his pack with competition for places in a side that have only lost one league game in the last six.
