Controversial Decisions Cost Acle Dearly
Acle United lost to high flying CEYMS by 3-1 in a match where Acle were on the end of two controversial refereeing decisions, that probably cost them points from the game.
Manager Challen paraded new signing Ashley Smith and was also able to include Harrison Tooley returning to the club from a short spell at the Bloaters.
Acle began the brighter of the two sides and dominated early on although the first real chance of the game fell to man of the match Jack Smith whose glancing header was well gathered by Foreman at the foot of his post.
At the other end Brooks powered a header over the bar from a corner, before the best move of the match saw Fisher rifle a cross inches wide of the onrushing Smith.
Forder then saw his shot deflected out for a corner before another neat move saw Thacker's shot held under the bar by the young keeper in the away goal.
CEYMS took the lead against the run of play when the dangerous Smith converted a loose ball in the box to put the Norwich based side in front.
Referee Lofts was frustrating both teams with some of his decisions, none more so than when Jamie Smith appeared to be clearly upended in the box but the official failed to award a penalty.
The match went into the break with CEYMS holding a slender advantage with the home supporters still talking about the penalty claim not awarded.
Howard replaced new boy Smith and it didn’t take long for the A's to level matters. Forder was played in down the right and after drawing the keeper coolly slotted home the equalising goal.
Then, with Acle looking the more likely to score, referee Lofts found himself the centre of controversy once again, as the unlucky Jamie Smith was given a straight red for a foul that most thought was no more than a yellow at best.
CEYMS are a truly talented side and duly pushed on for the win with Will Stenner bundling the ball over the line to put the visitors in front, before that man Jack Smith sealed the deal with a wonderful chip over Foreman to record what on paper looked a comfortable win, but in truth was far from it as Acle deserved points from the game.
